MAT Express Supports Our Troops and Their Families in 2007

Operation Home Front contacted MAT Express for assistance in handling the distribution of Barnes & Noble's $1 million in books donation for the children at Camp Pendleton (approx. 50 miles north of San Diego). MAT Express supplied the equipment and driver to help with this wonderful project. Operation Home Front is an organization whose primary objective is to help families of the soldiers fighting overseas.

We have also helped in the collection and distribution of school supplies and backpacks for the military families of Tierra Santa area, as well as assisted in the September 11, 2007 Freedom Walk in Balboa Park. In conjunction with the San Diego Chamber of Commerce MAT Express actively supports developmentally disabled veterans. MAT Express is involved in a "Sit-in" at local Liberty Station. It will raise funds to go for this worthy and important cause.

MAT Express believes in giving back to the community. Following in founder, Edmundo Perez’s legacy, the company’s management team continues to support local charitable causes. In the 80s Edmundo was very active in LULAC and the Lion’s Club. The family owned and operated transportation business is dedicated to community involvement.

MAT Express holds an Annual Beach Party every year. The event has become a legendary custom for employees, customers, suppliers and vendors. By mid-spring Diane Eggert along key staff members go into planning motion. They create a theme for the picnic, have the annual giveaway t-shirt designed, collect raffle gifts, recruit silent auction items from vendors and suppliers, hire the caterers, find the entertainment, order the fun specialty items and so much more. Over 150 people usually attend the chosen Mission Bay picnic site. Moneys raised go to a special charitable organization.

Founded in 1985, MAT Express’ motto is “Service is all we have to sell.”
Owners Tom and Diane Eggert are surrounded by a rowdy group of Wild West holdouts.
